Shepherd's Pie (Pam Sorohan's)
This is the first recipe (or one of) children used to make when they did cooking classes in high school in Queensland. A mince and mashed potato dish cooked first then layered and browned in the oven.

Ingredients
- 500 grms mince
- 1 lge onion
- 2 lge herb leaves or pinch dried
- 4 lge potato chopped
- 1 lge carrot grated
- plain flour to thicken
- 2 tablespoons each sauces (Worcestershire & tomato
- salt & pepper to taste
- water
- Peas or beans may be added.
Instructions
- Brown mince, onion and carrot in a deep frying pan.
- Add water to cover mixture
- Add sauces and salt to taste.
- Simmer for 20 minutes.
- Thicken with flour and water (needs to be fairly thick).
- Put into greased baking tray and let stand until set
- While browning and cooking mince, put potato on to boil and mash with milk and butter when very soft.
- Cover with layer of potato. (Layer sliced tomato on top of potato, if desired.)
- Brown in 200°C oven.
