This recipe is from my Aunt Lorna and my mother used to make them when we were kids. I used to make them for Andrew because they were one of his favourites.
Note
- This recipe calls for light molasses which doesn't really exist in Australia. I have found that golden syrup works just fine.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup Butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp light molasses
- 2 cups flour plain
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon ground
- 1 tsp cloves ground
- 1 tsp ginger ground
Instructions
- Cream butter & sugar then beat in the egg & molasses.
- Add flour, baking soda, salt & spices. Mix well & then form into small balls.
- Roll the balls in white sugar and place on greased tray.
- Flatten with a fork.
- Leave plenty of space between the biscuits as they spread a lot when cooking.
- Bake at 180° C until light brown – be careful they burn easily.
