Ingredients

  • 6 cheerios/cocktail frankfurts (since apparently nobody calls them cheerios anymore)
  • 1 Square puff pastry
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • Grated cheese (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Leave puff pastry to soften for several minutes. Turn on your oven at the same time (around 200°C).
  2. Cut puff pastry in half when soft.
  3. Place 3 cheerios end-to-end along one half of the pastry.
  4. If desired, sprinkle grated cheese along the length of the cheerios
  5. Roll cheerios (and cheese!) until pastry is completely rolled.
  6. Repeat with second half of puff pastry and cheerios
  7. Brush rolls with beaten egg (this browns it up nicely).
  8. Cut rolls into 3 (between each cheerio).
  9. Place on an oven tray with a little distance between each roll. (I use baking paper on the tray.)
  10. Cook for 20-30 minutes until the pastry is crispy and browned on top.
  11. Serve hot with tomato sauce.
