Aunty Floss’s Special K Cake

Back to recipe list

Source & History

This slice recipe is from my father’s older sister. I remember her as the matriarch his side of the family. She was a hairdresser who used to do hair in her home and used to cut my hair when we visited every summer. I still hear her telling me the right way to hold my head when I’m at the hairdresser’s today! She was really good with her hands – when she couldn’t afford to buy Royal Doulton ‘ladies’ (which she loved), she did ceramics classes and learned to make them herself. She ended up teaching ceramics from her home. I still have a couple of ceramic pieces that she gave me.

Note

  • Although Aunty Floss called it a cake - I would be more inclined to think of this as a slice recipe.
  • This is how to change Special K which is marketed these days to diet-conscious women, into a sweet treat with which to cheat.
